BOTOX® is one of the most recent and most exciting advances for treatment of wrinkles, lines, and the aging face. BOTOX® is a highly purified, naturally occurring protein which has the ability to very precisely relax the muscles to which it is applied.

This relaxation lasts for a number of months, and then the treated muscles gradually return to their original condition.

This is done in a way that does not alter your natural expression and features. It takes just a few minutes and can last between 4-6 months. Botox can also be an effective adjunct in the treatment of TMJ disorders and of excessive sweating (hyperhydrosis).

**Safe – FDA approved
**Beautiful, natural results
**Temporarily diminishes existing lines and stops new lines from forming

What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic effectively reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles of the face. FDA approved for the wrinkles between the brows, it is also widely used in other areas, such as the forehead, crow’s feet, bunny lines, “smoker’s” lines around the mouth, unsightly neck bands and even excessive underarm sweating. The solution is of a highly purified protein that can be precisely placed in the area of treatment, so as to keep facial expression intact. No anesthesia is required.

Who should get BOTOX® Cosmetic?
Whether you are trying to get rid of wrinkles or just want to prevent them, BOTOX® Cosmetic can work for you at any age. Beyond wrinkles, BOTOX® Cosmetic can lift the eyebrows and keep you from looking “sad” or “tired”. And it’s not just for women! A man who has pronounced lines between his brows may be perceived as angry or stressed, even though he may not want to look that way.

Who should not get BOTOX® Cosmetic?
Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome should not receive BOTOX® Cosmetic. Inform your practitioner if you have had a history of Bell’s palsy, Polio infection, or are currently taking aminoglycoside therapy.

How long does BOTOX® Cosmetic last?
On average, people need a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment 3 to 4 times a year to maintain their results.

What should I do to prepare for my BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment?
Avoid ibuprofen (such as Motrin and Advil) for 3 to 4 days prior to your treatment. Aspirin should not be taken for 7 days prior, unless it is being used for a medical condition. Alcohol should not be consumed for 24 hours prior to the treatment. These will all increase your risk of minor bruising in the treated area.

What do I do after a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment?
Do contract the treated muscle every few minutes for the first hour after your treatment. Do not exercise vigorously or lie down for a minimum of four hours. Also, do not massage or compress the treated area for a minimum or 4 hours afterward.

How does Express Family Clinic charge for Botox?
EFC charges per unit of Botox injected. Some providers charge per area, but EFC feels that charging per unit is more fair to our clients and, usually, results in a lower cost for our clients. EFC providers will explain this in more detail to you during your FREE consultation and will be able to tell you exactly how many units they plan to inject, and therefore, how much it will cost prior to your treatment.

Juvederm FAQ's

Juvederm is a non-surgical, smooth consistency gel dermal filler that helps to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds like your deeper "smile lines". Juvederm temporarily adds volume to facial tissue and restores a smoother appearance to the face and is often used as a lip enhancement.

How is JUVEDERM used?
Juvederm is injected into areas of facial tissue using a fine needle. Our skillful injector eases Juvederm under the skin to add facial volume and diminish the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and nasolabial folds instantly.

How does JUVEDERM work?
While there are a variety of hyaluronic acid fillers, Juvederm is uniquely formulated. A next generation Hyaluronic Acid filler, Juvederm uses a manufacturing process called HYLACROSS™ technology. HYLACROSS™ gives Juvederm its special smooth-gel structure that holds up over time. That's why Juvederm is the first smooth-consistency HA gel and the only Hyaluronic Acid filler that is FDA approved to last up to one year with only one treatment.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance found in all mammals that helps to hydrate and add volume to your skin. In addition to its use as an aesthetic treatment, Hyaluronic Acid has also been used for more than 20 years for injection into arthritic joints to aid movement as well as for eye surgeries and wound repair.

Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of naturally hydrating Hyaluronic Acid (HA). As you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds - like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth.

Using a dermal filler like Juvederm is a safe and effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume where your face needs it the most.

What is cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid?
"Uncross-linked" Hyaluronic Acid in its natural form is in a liquid state. "Cross-linking" is the process through which hyaluronic acid is made into a gel product that can be injected into the skin for long-lasting results.

What will treatment with JUVEDERM injectable gel accomplish?
Juvederm injectable gel will help to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing, and one treatment could smooth your lines and wrinkles for up to one year. Ask our injector what you should expect from your initial treatment and when they would recommend rescheduling another appointment.

What makes JUVEDERM different than other dermal fillers?
Juvederm is the ONLY Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler FDA approved to last up to one year.* The unique manufacturing process provides a high concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid for long-lasting results. It also works to create a smooth consistency gel that flows easily into the skin and provides a smooth, natural look and feel. All other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers currently on the market are made of granular consistency gels. Juvederm is the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has demonstrated its safety and effectiveness in persons of color. Because Juvederm is the softest form of all the hyaluronic gels on the market, it is widely used for lip enhancement to achieve the most natural look and feel.

How is JUVEDERM different than BOTOX cosmetic?
Juvederm injectable gel is a "next-generation" hyaluronic acid dermal filler that provides volume and is used to treat wrinkles and folds resulting from a loss of volume beneath the surface of the skin. Botox Cosmetic is not a filler. Botox Cosmetic relaxes muscle activity and is used to treat moderate to severe lines caused by facial expressions.

When will I start to see results?
You will see a visible improvement immediately after treatment. Our injector will work with you on an individual basis to achieve the most desirable, natural looking results. The full results are gauged after about 10 days.

How long will the results last?
Juvederm is the ONLY Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler FDA approved to last up to one year. Most patients find that it is an annual treatment.

Does the correction last forever?
No. Correction is temporary; therefore, touch-up injections as well as repeat injections are usually needed to maintain optimal long lasting results.

What are the possible side effects of JUVEDERM?
Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is typically not long lasting. The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injections site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures there is a risk of infection.

Can people with different skin tones be treated with JUVEDERM?
Yes. In fact, Juvederm injectable gel is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has proven its safety and effectiveness in persons of color. Studies with Juvederm showed no increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring in patients of color.

What should be done prior to treatment?
Avoid taking aspirin or ibuprofen both of which can increase bleeding or bruising at the injection site.

What should I do immediately after treatment?
Refrain from vigorous exercise until the following day, other than that you can return to your normal activities.

How does Express Family Clinic charge for Juvederm?
EFC charges per syringe of Juvederm. EFC providers will explain this in more detail to you during your FREE consultation and will be able to tell you exactly how much Juvederm they plan to inject, and therefore, how much it will cost prior to your treatment.

Post-treatment Considerations
Your healthcare professional will tell you what to expect following treatment with Juvederm injectable gel. You should ask your healthcare professional when makeup may be applied after your treatment.

You should avoid the following for at least 24 hours after treatment:

Strenuous exercise
Consumption of alcoholic beverages
Extended exposure to sun or heat
Exposure to any of the above may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection sites. If there is swelling, you may need to place an ice pack over the swollen area. Be sure to report any redness and/or visible swelling that lasts for more than a few days or any other symptoms that cause you concern to your healthcare professional.

Other Considerations

Patients who are using substances that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, as with any injection, may experience increased bruising or bleeding at the injection site. You should inform your healthcare professional before treatment if you are using these types of substances.
If laser treatment, chemical peeling, or any other procedure based on active dermal response is considered after treatment with Juvederm injectable gel, there is a possible risk of an inflammatory reaction at the treatment site.
Juvederm injectable gel should be used with caution in patients on immunosuppressive therapy, or therapy used to decrease the body's immune response, as there may be an increased risk of infection.
The safety of Juvederm injectable gel for use during pregnancy, in breastfeeding females, or in patients under 18 years has not been established.
